Thanks for the post. I am honestly a bit overwhelmed with all the information out there so this is helpful. I've recently decided that I really need to put some professional certifications under my belt if I plan to continue on the path I am on. I have a handful of clients I "coach". I am a fitness enthusiast and feel very comfortable helping them given their goals. However, I think for credibility sake I need to do this. I've also started wirting a lot and blogging, and I think in order to advance my efforts in that direction I need that. I have two degrees already so the idea of going back to school is just not appealing. I am also terribly scared of test taking and science. I guess that has been the hold-up. Your post sounds like if you put enough time in with studying you can get the job done. Thanks for the info.

Wait i'm slightly confused, did you end up with the personal training certification or the group fitness instructor certification? I like the article as i have wanted to get certified as a PT for a long time, but am currently low on cash as we all are. I was able to download the Volume 3 of the ACE CPT text book for free, and i am wondering if i would be able to use this book instead of the 4th version? I plan on buying the other materials b/c they are reasonably cheap (used), but if i could get by with Vol. 3, it would save me a nice chunk of money!

I think the book list has changed -- I didn't read that, but I don't remember it being on the list two years ago! I read the ACE Personal Trainer Manual and the Fitness Professionals' Guide to Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Human Movement. I don't remember what else was on my book list but I'm pretty sure that I did get all the books on the list!

Is it necessary to read the "Essentials of Exercise Science... book in order to pass the test? I am overwhelmed and would just like to narrow things down to the necessary studying. Does anyone have any advice. It would be greatly appreciated.

This is the only product that keeps me dry all day, even through hot summers in Phoenix. After switching to Secret Clinical Strength from Degree, I am able to go without a blouse underneath my business jackets - it is that good!

You are my favourite person today! I have just put the peanut butter cup on top of the icing and my bestie will be delighted with these as her b-day present tomorrow as we often indulge in peanut butter/chocolate ice cream together. My dog also sends her thanks as she got to lick out the icing bowl!
