Beauty Booty: Spring Fling Nail Colors

by Rachel on 04/08/2010

The beginning of warmer weather always makes me want to shop, and I definitely go on a spring beauty bender every year around this time. One of the things I needed was new nail polish!

I couldn’t decide what my “it” color was going to be for spring, but when my friend Erica told me she was getting a pedi with “creamsicle-colored” polish, I knew I wanted that.

I like nail colors that sound good enough to eat.

Unfortunately, Erica’s color (OPI Don’t Be Koi With Me) was not in stock, so I moved on to Essie. Their spring colors looked amazing. I found the light orange color I wanted…but they also had a fabulous lilac…and a new red…oh no! I couldn’t afford to buy more than one and I was totally torn.

Then I realized they had a kit with four mini nail polishes. Usually mini-kits never have the colors I want in them but for once, the beauty gods had my back. This kit came with all the colors I wanted for $12.

Besides letting you sample more colors, the other thing that is great about minis is that they are often the perfect size. With trendy, seasonal colors, we often don’t need a big bottle. So perfect!

This kit included Red Nouveau (a very orangey red), Lilacism (a great light purple), Tart Deco (the light orange color), and Pop Art Pink (baby pink).

I’ve used three of the colors so far. I did the red on my hands…

This is bright and kind of 80s! Not for the faint of heart.

Then the lilac…

This is the perfect spring shade! I’ve already gotten compliments on it. It’s so pretty. I did three coats because it was a little streaky and the color was divine (and chipped less than any polish I’ve ever used!).

I also did the orange on my toes — I thought I’d spare you the pedi shot since I need a real pedicure — and it’s very bright and fun. I think it’s more of a summer color though.

For now, I’m sticking with the lilacism!

Uh oh, does that mean I have to put away my navy and purple/black. They are my security blankie.

I’m stuck on the dark colors, too! I need to get over it because apparently soft and pretty is in and I’m not. Or something like that!

Haha, I have the same kit! I’ve had Lilacism on all week but switched to the light pink last night.

I love the coral on my toes. It’s opaque enough to hide my black toenail from running!
