So I didn’t mention this yet, because I was afraid to like, cure something (I don’t know?) but I blew my wad — aka savings — on something I’ve been wanting for a long time: a new camera.
After a lot of debate and research, I chose a Nikon digital SLR off Amazon, held my breath as I clicked “buy,” and then waited all day today for the UPS man to come. I was so excited when he handed me the box, I nearly made out with him.
A lot of my friends couldn’t understand why I was so excited. I mean….it’s just a camera, right?
I ripped into it and debriefed myself so I could take the first pic. I shot the first thing in front of me: my Blackberry.
As you can see, it is not just a camera.
It is fabulous and it is blowing my mind!
Of course, the first thing I wanted to do was shoot food pics. But wouldn’t you know it arrived right after I was done cooking and making lunch?
But I did turn my afternoon snack into a legit photo shoot…
And then it was time to document taco night…
If that doesn’t make you want to eat healthy, colorful foods…I don’t think I can help you. Nor am I sure I want to.
After dinner I started working on a batch of cookies which means I had Betty going and the camera going at the same time. And I was making the most buttery, lemony cookie dough I’ve ever experienced. One hand in dough and the other on a piece of technology? That’s me in my element.
The funny thing is, these pictures are pretty incredible quality — yet I’ve barely read the manual and learned how to really use it. It’s just that good on its own; I’m so excited to see how much better it will get when I become a better photographer. Or pornographer. At this point, I’m not even sure.

Yay I had no idea you were getting a camera! The picture of the BlackBerry is the most gorgeous of your pics today, how funny! I love how the background fades away and the BlackBerry is the focus. And YUM Mexican dinner. Looks beautiful as well. Can’t wait to see more pictures!

I got my first SLR not long ago and I am addicted to taking pictures with it. I don’t know how I survived with a point and shoot before.

I loooove my Nikon SLR! However, I almost never take it outside because I am always afraid of the rain/snow etc. Very excited for nice weather. What lens option did you go for?
