This morning I was up early and hungry. I was planning to get up and go straight to the lab to have my cholesterol and blood sugar tested for Go Red month, but when I woke up, I was snowed in!

Um, what the hell? Yesterday it was warm, sunny, and the roads were clear enough to run outside.

Well, the first thing I did was get my fasting ass some breakfast! In keeping with breaking my food rut, I threw a left over black bean burger and homemade guac up in the mix, atop a scrambled egg, red peppers, and tortilla.

Hadn’t ever thought of a veggie burger for breakfast, but really, it tasted much better than just plain black beans with eggs! I also had a bowl of strawberries and grapes; I have to have some fruit when I have a savory breakfast.
This weekend was really busy for me. I worked a lot and last night I hit up U of M to bring a little “Shed U” to the girls of AGD. It was so fun — the topic was “How to Be Treated Like The Goddess You Are” and we had a great time chatting about healthy relationships and the No Asshole Diet.
I was determined that today would be the Saturday I didn’t get and, happily, it was! After doing a little work and then reading “Allure,” I was in the mood for an extended session in the kitchen!

First up? Healthy banana bread, from this Hump Day Treat recipe. I have been craving it for weeks, so I finally got my act together and made it. I froze a bunch of bananas yesterday morning, and then put them in the fridge last night. When I woke up, I had the perfect banana mash and therefore, perfect banana bread.

While the bread was cooking, I decided to make a new soup for the week — I’ll post the recipe tonight, as I am saving it for dinner! But the bites I had…so good.
I went to the grocery store yesterday and I’m very excited because I came up with a solution to one of life’s problems. I don’t buy organic milk because I don’t ever buy milk. But I do use milk from time to time…a splash in my oatmeal every day, in recipes, and a glass as a bedtime snack on occasion. So I was thinking I should start buying organic, but I know if I bought a gallon I’d waste it. So…I decided to buy shelf-stable individual boxes!

Perfect!! And they were on sale for $1 so I stocked up.
Then it was time for a real lunch! Oats, per usual…

Mmm, now I’m feeling sufficiently drowsy, and I am going to go lounge, read, and feel very lazy Sunday-ish! I did my kettlebell workout again yesterday, but I skipped the third circuit and, lo and behold, I can walk today! Looks like I need to build up to that third one. I am supposed to teach spinning tonight at 5:30, but given the weather, I’m not sure if we’ll have class. If not, I’ll spin at home and do Core Fusion, as I was planning to do anyway. I have been missing Core Fusion in the past few days, so I’m ready to do a nice, killer ab and arm workout today.
Have a great afternoon!

Your breakfast sounds really yummy! I just got the Core Fusion body sculpt in the mail today and immediately put it on…it was a killer workout! I liked it alot and can’t wait to do it again.
All the meals you made look great! Thanks for letting me know the Core Fusion dvds are awesome. I bought the set and have been debating
. Also, you have totally inspired me to break up with the gym as well! I found some videos I like and then tried to do a machine today and was bored out of my mind, and found myself missing what I had at home. Now I just will stick to my aerobics classes and stock up on a major video library, and maybe start a home gym here soon. Thanks!!!
That’s awesome! Seriously, not driving to the gym is making a HUGE difference in my life. I kept saying I need an extra hour in the day and I finally found it! And I feel like doing DVDs challenges you to keep it exciting and to not just rely on being a slave to a machine.
I LOVE those Horizon milks. They are my absolute fav. Something about them tastes different. I was so happy with them that I wrote to the company not too long ago just to express my happiness with them!
Btw, I love reading your blog, your writing is inspirational
I usually try to write to companies that I like, you’re right, I should totally hit up Horizon!!
And thanks for the comment and for reading!!
