Gooood evening, friends!
This has been a long but good day. When I woke up this morning at 7:00, outside it was completely gray from the storm…you couldn’t tell the difference between earth and sky. But I love that kind of winter scene!

Oh, Michigan…

A lot of people had snow days today but if you work at home, there’s no such thing! And besides…I had work to do!
Since I finished The Spartanette Project two weeks ago, things have really picked up. First, I’m doing everything I can to network and find an agent and write my query letter and follow up on leads. It’s a big process. Then I’ve also been devoting more time to picking up new projects, doing more for social media work for others, and essentially starting my own consulting business. I honestly don’t feel like I’ve worked this hard since I interned at ELLE; by the end of the night, I am completely wiped out. It’s not that I don’t like what I’m doing — I seriously love every minute of it! — but I wish there were about five more hours in the day so I didn’t have to pack it in like this! I started getting to my desk at 8:00 just to get more done and I’m working like…14 hour days. It’s ridiculous when I think of it like that, but I know it’s only temporary.
But the hard work is paying off! A lot of stuff is behind-the-scenes and impossible to even explain, but I did spend last week building my personal, professional Web site (RachelWilkerson.net — if you like it, HOLLER, I can do yours too!) and then yesterday I shot videos to make it awesome. I had some tech issues with my Flip Cam software — somehow ALL the videos I’d just shot were missing?! — so that was a bummer, but I got it all worked out. I also shot a welcome video for Shedding It, so if you’re a new friend, check it out! Dealing with video is super time-consuming and I had so many yesterday…because after initially losing all the video, then suddenly I had duplicates, and my hard drive was just like, “40 new videos?! Fuck you, I’m going home.” It was quite a task!
I didn’t work out yesterday, which was fine, as it was a rest day, but today was a Core Fusion day! I only had three more sessions to hit my challenge goal! My aunt Kara asked me if I wanted to go to the gym and I had planned to go either today or tomorrow, so I went for it. She came over and did Core Fusion with me for the first time! She ended up loving it and we decided we’re going to do it together every Wednesday. Then we hit the gym for some cardio. She jogged on the track for 15 minutes while I did the best interval workout ever, and then we went to spin in the studio for a bit before another class started. After Core Fusion and running, my legs were NOT in the mood to spin, but we did 20 minutes and it was good. Some days I need to be at my desk for 14 hours and, well, other days I need to MOVE MY BODY!
I had no idea what to make when I came home for dinner, but luckily, it was one of those perfect days when I just had the right stuff to throw together something awesome. Tonight’s saving ingredient was the impulse buy asparagus from earlier this week. Enter…sauteed shrimp, penne, chickpeas, and Parmesan.

Along with cucumbers and an apple, it was so filling, I couldn’t even eat it all. But I LOVE when dinner just works out like that.
When I work out in the afternoon, that means I work at night, so it’s back to my projects! Honestly, I may be single this Valentine’s Day, but I feel like the internet is my boyfriend. And a pretty good boyfriend at that. So I’m going to get back to having a torrid affair with the Web. (Pathetic, I know…DJM!)
Have a great night!

Your website is awesome! When I’m a high roller like you and need one, I know where to go.
And your pasta dish looks so freaking good right now. Mmm….
Wow kudos to you for heading to the gym in all that snow! I don’t plan to move my car for at least 2 days lol.
I’m so happy that I found your blog =)
That shrimp creation looks like something I got at Whole Foods a few weeks ago that I am *mysteriously* craving now. At 10:53 p.m. On my couch. Too bad this whole snowstorm thing is going on.

Core Fusion sounds awesome. Which dvds would you recommend? I go to a spinning class twice a week but need to add something new to my workout routine. Thanks for the great blog!
