I actually hate playing “Would you rather?” because I read too into each question. I need more clarifying details to make these kind of decisions! But I have an interesting WYR to share today…
If you are single…would you rather find love or lose weight in 2010?
In a recent online poll, Match.com found that 64 percent of singles would rather find love!
I can’t decide how I feel about this. (See, this is why I hate this game.) On the one hand I think, Oh, good, people aren’t so obsessed with losing weight that they think it’s more important than finding love! But on the other hand I think, Wait, why are people so sick of being single that they’d rather be fat and tied down? But then again, fat and happy isn’t the worst place to be! And if you don’t need to lose weight it’s probably a different story altogether. Ugh…too much for my brain to handle!!!
OK but actually when I think about it, I think I’d rather find love than lose weight too! I mean, my life is pretty fucking perfect (I’m not saying that because I’m a bitch; I’m saying that because I’m an optimist) but I definitely could stand to fall in love. But, like, good love though. No “bad romance” please. “Finding love” and “being in an official relationship with said love on Facebook” are two different things. I find love about once a month! Soo…OK, Match, which is it?
I hate this stupid game.
Confusion aside, how do you feel about this? If you had to choose one over the other, which would you prefer?
Speaking of love/Match, some business to attend to…
First off, the other site I write for, Tech Coquette, is hosting a Valentine’s Day giveaway with Match.com. You can find all the details of the giveaway here, and you should enter because who doesn’t want to win a “Love Kit”?!?! It includes chocolate, lip balm, a manicure kit (or a shaving kit, if you’z a man), a subscription to Match.com, and a free online-movie rental subscription. (So basically every awesome female stereotype that I was Saturday night!!!) There’s a bunch of other ish in the kit, so check it out! Even if you’re attached or just burned out on online dating, do it for the movie rentals and chocolate!
Since I love me some Match.com and would to see one of you lovely readers find a nice cyber dude (Monica from Run, Eat, Repeat met her husband that way!!), I decided to take the giveaway a step further and make it a DOUBLE giveaway! So here’s how it will work.
1. Head to the giveaway post at Tech Coquette and follow the directions there. (Not too hard; you just have to leave a fun comment or Tweet about it.)
2. Come back and leave a comment on this post telling me you’ve entered on TC AND/OR Tweet about THIS post @ShedItAndGetIt and come back and leave me a comment on this post that you did AND/OR link to THIS post in your blog.
So to win my contest, you first have to enter at Tech Coquette, and then you can enter with me THREE TIMES! So you have a chance to win the Love Kit AND three chances to win a gift from me — which will be a gift card of your choice (Panera, iTunes, Target…the only things that matter to me in life). You have until Monday night!
Second, Tech Coquette is starting a new feature featuring the worst (and by worst I mean BEST!!!!) online dating e-mails. You know, the rude, the cheesy, the “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” If you’ve got them, please compile and forward to Rachel@techcoquette.com. This is a new feature we are starting that came out of a wine night I had with some girlfriends last summer and it promises to be amazing. Don’t hold back, and let all your gfs know too.
LOVE IS IN THE AIR! Holler!

If the question was, “Would you rather take good care of yourself or fall in love?” I would go with taking better care of myself. (This is, of course, assuming that I was single, which I’m not.) Loving yourself first is most important
.-= Veggie Booty´s last blog ..The Last Birthday Recap. I Promise. =-.
You have got love yourself first and foremost. If losing a few pounds achieves this then go for it, focus on youself first I say
LOVE this post and just added you to my google reader! I entered the contest!
And I just tweeted!
i’d rather find love! but i dont need to lose weight, so maybe i’m biased. if the question was what one commentor said- take better care of yourself or find love i dunno how i’d answer. i take pretty good care of myself, except for when it comes to guys, soooo i’d say i’d still rather find love so i didn’t have to treat myself badly with assholes!
this is a hard one for me….i think i’d rather find love. but i’d like to twist my answer into finding a loooover that continues to motivate me to get healthy, but he would love me no matter what i looked like
i unfortunately deleted all my horrible match.com emails recently, but i definitely had some contenders that would have been worthy to send in.
I just registered in the contest!
