Gooood afternoon!
Well I have been gone all day today, which is unusual. I was up earlier than usual to drop my mom off at work on my way to spinning. I have felt under the weather all week; my throat is really sore and scratchy, and my voice isn’t working too well. Last night when I went to bed I felt like, “OK, this may be full-blown tomorrow and I may not make it to spinning.” But when I woke up, I felt fine. So I had breakfast and headed to the gym.
I was glad, because I really wanted to show off my new Nike Shox, which came in the mail yesterday. As we expected, they are 100 percent ridiculous.

This is my second time designing custom Nikes, and this is the second time they have shown up looking rather different than they did online. The base of the shoes was supposed to be purple and the Shox were turquoise. You can’t return custom shoes, so it looks like I’m rocking these for the next year….once I put them on though, I totally fell in love with the design. They are gorgeous. And the back totally trumps everything!

Dear Nike…this shit is bananas! ![]()
When I got to the gym, I was rather early, so I decided to walk on the treadmill to warm up. I noticed then that the shoes remind me of the Balenciaga Lego shoes that we shot the summer I was interning at ELLE.

After my good 10 minute warm-up, I went to class. Jacki was meeting me there and it was packed. Once we got started, though, I realized I was definitely too under-the-weather for spinning. I couldn’t keep the pace at all. At first I thought it was just because I was sore from Core Fusion, but the more I tried, the more my legs just seemed to not move. I should have been fine, but I couldn’t keep up. My throat really hurt and I was covered in a cold sweat. After 30 minutes I realized I just needed to call it a day! I told Jacki I was leaving, cleaned off my bike, put on my sweet new shoes, and peaced out. I walked on the treadmill for another 10 minutes, and then was just done.
I took a quick shower at the gym and tried to make myself presentable (“tried”…my skin tone definitely suggests that I’m sick) and then made the three minute drive to the movie theater down the street. Kara and I were taking Ella to see “The Princess and the Frog” for her fourth birthday, which is today! I was actually kind of excited to see it, and I ended up really liking it! I would have loved it so much when I was four; kind of sad it didn’t come out sooner, back when I was 100 percent convinced I was Ariel. Tiana was a pretty sweet character; she loves to cook, works her ass off, and can’t dance. The prince character was really funny too and the overall message was a lot better than most Disney movies. Definitely a win!
After the movie I was ready for food, so we went to Panera Bread. I had been really excited to try their new soup: garden vegetable with pesto! I also got a turkey sandwich.

We know how I feel about pesto, but I have to say…I was disappointed by the soup! It just wasn’t great. The sandwich was delicious, but I only hate about half the soup. Bummer!
The birthday girl had broccoli cheddar soup, but she didn’t finish it, so I had a few bites of that and then was good to go!

I still feel a little under the weather, but I have some errands to run this afternoon. I am about two hours away from being done with The Spartanette Project, but I don’t think I am going to have those two hours today. It’s fine though…I had major cabin fever and spending the day out and about is helping break that. I’ll probably finish the whole shebang on Sunday, just in time for my goal!
All right, I’m off…have a good afternoon!

those shoes are badass!! love the holla back on the back hah
I was really excited to try that soup too! I wasnt dissapointed though, then again I added a few spoons of parmesan cheese. I do think it would be better with more pesto, I’m thinking of making a version of this myself.
I had been thinking about making a similar soup too, so I bet it would be better homemade. Definitely needs more pesto, and cheese makes everything better!!
Those shoes are bad ass! I love how you got ”Holla Back” put on them.

I want me some Rachelfied Nikes!! I’m going to see whether they customize my boring-colored standard Pegasus, because I can’t sleep knowing that there are such cool sneaks out there being owned and rocked by very lucky others!

Those shoes are hot! I love em. Not necessarily what you selected but I’m so getting a pair. Hope you feel better soon.
