Last night, as I went to call upon a nice gentleman, I was totally preparing myself for a night/morning of true shedding it and getting it. I had all my spinning gear ready to go in my trunk, so that when he got up for work, I would get up, drive the 40 minutes home, and roll straight into spinning at 9 AM, feeling like a Shacker Extroadinaire.
That actually would have happened had I not woken up at 4 AM with the most awful, intense pain in my left leg! I don’t know what happened, but it was the most painful thing ever, and it wouldn’t go away. It started in my hip and went all the way down to my knee and shin, where it was particularly bad, and through my ankle. I tossed and turned for two hours trying to find a comfortable position. It wasn’t like a charlie horse, exactly…but sort of like a burning, cramp that made it impossible to full extend my leg and foot. My hip has been bothering me a little bit this week, probably from spinning so much, so I don’t know if it has something to do with that or what. It could be from Core Fusion, but it’s in such a bizzare spot, it seems odd. Anyway, all that tossing and turning kept everyone awake and miserable. I was so pissed because I easily could have made it to spinning on time, but I wasn’t sure my leg was going to rotate properly when I got there.
I was driving home at 7 AM (pretending it was 7:00 at night so I felt like less of a floozy), weighing the options of going to spinning and…ummm, I definitely played the bum leg card and instead I drove thru McDonald’s and picked up breakfast because it was all I wanted (more about THAT in a later post!). I also bought breakfast for my mom and brother, because they were up and getting ready for school. I thought that treating everyone to greasy food would be a nice distraction from the fact that I was rolling in as the sun came up. But when I told my mom about my leg she said, “Maybe it’s from doing too much of the ‘All Dogs Go to Heaven’ pose.”
Touche, mother. Well played.
After a seriously-necessary extra hour of sleep, I started to feel human again, so I took my sassy mother lunch at work and hung out in the teacher’s lounge for an hour. Being out and about made my leg feel looser and therefore better, and light cardio is a great fix for sore muscles. Kara just texted me, “Let’s spin!” so I think I am going to head to the gym where we can go in the empty studio. If I had gone to class, I may have pushed it too hard, and had to leave with feelings of Shacking Shame, but on my own, I can easily PTFO if it’s making my leg feel worse. I can also REALLY scale back the intensity!
So I’m off to do that now! I hope my leg starts to feel better because I want to have a good workout…I’m going out tonight and the way I see it, 10 minutes of cardio is about equal to one drink. Let’s hope my leg bounces back cause I’m fittin’ to get tipsy!
Have a great afternoon!

…and exactly what do you mean when you say, “all that tossing and turning kept everyone awake,” just how many people were there?!?
