Shed Tip: Use YouTube for Motivation!

by Rachel on 01/13/2010

It’s no secret that I love YouTube, and one way I use it is to motivate myself on days I’d rather stay parked on my ass than get up and go to the gym! How? I watch music videos of fabulous bodies in motion! It’s not just that entertainers have great bodies — it’s more that these songs always get me pumped up and the videos make me want to feel powerful and like I could totally master the stage at the VMAs if given the opportunity! Here are some of my faves…

Beyonce “Crazy in Love.” The song is awesome and girl WORKS those denim shorts!

Britney Spears, “Slave 4 U” live. There have been days I’m so anti-gym, I have to watch this video several times. I always watch like three times for gym motivation and two times to just marvel at how the girl LOST IT ALL.

Shakira “Hips Don’t Lie.” As much I love the unitard-clad Robot in “She Wolf,” this old-school video is amazing. Her HIPS. HOLY SHIT. Do I need to do hundreds of crunches to be able to do that? Cause OK…I will.

This one always gets me pumped up! A commercial, for God’s sake! (And again…whyyyy, Britney!? WHY!!!)

Aaliyah was just so cute and I love how you could get away with the whole tomboy thing in 1998. This makes me want to lift weights with the boys.

This clip isn’t the best — there isn’t a full movie clip yet — but Kate Hudson’s scene in “Nine” is SO GOOD! It always makes me just want to MOVE!

Mmmmkay….now let’s all go work out, shall we?!

My roommate and I used to do this in college! Our fave was “Loosen Up Your Buttons” by the Pussy Cat Dolls. It turned into our all time best ab crunching song. Shakira’s new one, “She Wolf” is good for this and/or soft core porn too.

Thank you so much for this. I am revamping my ipod’s running playlist right now so that I’ll have all the more reason to get my butt out there tomorrow morning!
