I think it’s a little too soon to really analyze the deeper meanings of the marathon, so I’m going to give myself a few days to process everything before I get into all that. But I can tell you this right now: if watching that makes you want to run a marathon, DO IT. If you think you can’t…YOU CAN. If you think you aren’t a runner…NEITHER AM I. (Even now, I’m just not!)
The race was a great experience, but the training was where I learned so much…even without time to decompress, I can tell you I’m not the same person I was four months ago. There are not many things I can say will without question change your life, but training for your first marathon will…and I really believe everyone can do it if they want to badly enough!
This morning I’m still pretty stiff and sore, but it’s not anything I can’t handle. It’s like you feel the day after you do a ton of squats…times, like, five. I really need to go for a walk to loosen up and then STRETCH!
My family is currently at Disney World and after I have some lunch and pack I am going to meet them there. (And hopefully see Prince Eric this time.) Then we’re leaving for the airport straight from DW and even though it will be colder and not sunny, it will be nice to get home and get on with the business of my life!
Have a great day!

Congrats! So awesome and inspirational.
Congratulations! What an amazing achievement. Disney World looked like such a fun place to run your first marathon.
So so soooo happy for you! And awesome jacket–that’s the way to run in style! (and the slogan was almost as good as the first one you thought up but was not grandma-appropriate
)

I have been a silent reader of your blog for several months, but I have been following your training and rooting for you. CONGRATS on your accomplishment, you are truely an inspiration (especially for us “non-runners” out there). Maybe tonight at the gym I will change up my ellicptical routine and give running on the treadmill a shot – it’s always seemed scary, but what the heck, Ive been inspired. What’s next? You’re probably gonna get me hooked on spinning
Definitely felt tears coming on during the video! CONGRATS!!!! That’s soooo awesome! I’ve been going back and forth on the idea of doing a marathon, this was a huge push to at least give it a try and look into some races!
Thank you for all the awesome supportive comments!! And SERIOUSLY, EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO RUN A RACE, DOOOOO IT! It doesn’t have to be a marathon to make you feel SWEET!
Congrats on the race!!! What a day it was : ) It was so nice to meet you at the lunch on Saturday, best of luck to you in this new year!
Rach!!!!
So I worked four night shifts in a row over the weekend (WHICH I HATE DOING), and when I saw you posted the video Sunday, I was dyyyying to watch it, but work has been SO busy! After studying and recuperating all day, I finally had the chance to watch the whole thing, and I am just SO SO proud of you! I’m a huge emotional dork, and I started baaaaawling when I saw Preston, heard your mom’s voice, and saw that picture of you! It looks like the perfect place to run a marathon!! I’m thinking 2013 hopefully (when I’m done with school and will have the time to dedicate to making sure I can FEED myself enough gluten free food for that!) Half marathons until then, but you just made me nod my head and say, “Yup! Doing it!” (Or in our friend Elizabeth’s words, “Doing 8!”)
SO proud of you!!!! CONGRATS!
