Using fresh herbs is a great way to enhance the flavor and nutrition of your meals without adding fat or calories (or breaking the bank). Yes, I love what herbs can do…but I really despise nothing more than chopping them. I’m not very good at it, and I feel like it takes forever for me to get them small enough. I hate how they stick to your fingers and get water everywhere. It drives me crazy!
So my mother, knowing this, and being a good mother and all, surprised me with exactly what I needed: an herb mincer. Had I known this product existed, I would have bought one months ago! I was so thrilled.

It’s just a little plastic spatula with a row of circular blades.

I couldn’t wait to put it to use. I started with some fresh rosemary, washed, the leaves torn from the stems.

Then all you do is put the little device over the herbs and roll with it!

At first, herbs were flying everywhere, but then I realized the trick is to press hard and roll back and forth with a really tight motion; you don’t want to cover a lot of space. Do this for about 20 seconds and then…

Woo! Minced herbs!
I could have kept at it to get smaller herbs but I didn’t really need to. I really wish I had had these when I made the herbed goat cheese balls for Christmas…it would have been SO much easier. (One tip: dry the herbs really well after washing them or you get more of an herb paste.) This little guy cost $5 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and was so worth it! I’m seriously so thrilled. The mincer plus my new lemon zester and two of my most hated tasks are all set!
