Shed Theater: What I Think About During Long Runs

by Rachel on 12/10/2009

Fighting boredom and staying mentally focused is without a doubt the hardest part of marathon training. How do prudes do distances? I will never know.

Oh wow I LOVE this… thank you for making my day with that. Work is so boring but I gave up and was just laughing out loud in my office while simultaneously directing all running friends and/or friends that just like to hook up to this. How DO prudes do long workouts?

That was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while! I laughed my ass off. We have a couple things in common: I am also pretty sure that I am a gay male and I am a total Republican magnet. But I found the solution to the guy problem…Republican ex-jocks. Think about it. Hotness.

Rachel December 10, 2009 at 7:48 PM

Oh Valerie, I like where your head’s at. Like…oh this could be REALLY good.
But if they are ex jocks, they still better be in good shape! Cause you know those older Republicans who rock the paunch and the “old football injury” just won’t do…

I am so glad my wanton ways could make your work day go a little better!! :-D

HA! Well done…definitely one of your best.

Anne December 10, 2009 at 9:20 PM

I hate running, yet here I sit thinking ‘maybe I should take up running’. What is up with that? Wait, maybe I’m thinking I need to get laid. Yeah, that makes more sense. ;)

AHHH literal LOL, Anne. WORK YOUR BODY, GET YOUR BODY WORKED, that’s what I keep saying!!!

Nicci@NiftyEats December 10, 2009 at 10:24 PM

Omg, LMAO. I love this!! You make me laugh…2010 is your year girl! Don’t worry I sometimes think about sex when running too. I’m a fag hag, and all my gay guys friends are pretty hot and so gay.

a friend passed your blog along to me and it is fantastic! i am training for a marathon too, and i find that i often think of boys due to my music selection (step up 2 the streets soundtrack?). the bad thing about this is that i have a semi-photographic memory when it comes to that kind of shit. i can’t forget a hookup if i want to. sometimes during my long runs i shudder involuntarily because of a bad hook up memory. i swear it’s like post-traumatic-stress.. except all the “trauma” is just a big ol’ pile of really fucking awkward.. anyway.. LOVE the blog. :o )

Oh my gosh, the idea of a photographic memory when it comes to hookups is cringe-inducing!! AHHHH!

“why don’t democrat guys invest their money in something other than weed.” HILARIOUS! seriously best thing ive ever heard. last two guys i dated put such a high priority on weed. not normal after the age of 20. it doesn’t help that phish is on tour either. haha seriously this made my day.

Rachel December 13, 2009 at 11:24 AM

hahaha…love the Phish point.

Isha December 13, 2009 at 1:35 PM

I can’t dance either. You are the funniest person ever, seriously. You should make a Shed Theater page on your blog. LOVE using Caress Me Down for the music here!

How do you think of this all? You’re brilliant! I wish I thought like you.

Does your family see this blog??

Also — thank you again for “Meddle” — when I hear it, it makes me think about my old hookup who I still think about and sometimes think is the only person I want to be with. Bad, since I’ve been with my current BF for over a year, but Meddle describes the old one PERFECTLY. When I hear it, I imagine me and him on a run together (I don’t think he has ever ran, who knows) and me laughing and telling him about how the song I am listening to always makes me think of him.

And that is what I think about during long runs. Ha.

I love how much you love Shed Theater! I can’t make a separate page for them (I’m out of tabs) but I will make a new section in “Getting It” for them this weekend so you can easily access them when you need to be reminded of the No-Asshole Diet! And GOOD WORK knowing Caress Me Down! The most underrated sexy song ever, I think!!

Re: my family. They all know about it, but not necessarily the “I love to talk about banging” specifics”; my mom reads it, but, well, I come from a line of promiscuous women…she’s been reading my blog since I was in college (and God save me, The Spartanette was way worse) and totally gets it. And for now, I’m really OK with the fact that Grandma can’t use a computer!

Rachel December 23, 2009 at 10:06 AM

Ugh, I know how it feels to have those old hangups (seriously, when I hear Miley Cyrus “See You Again” I have the Pavlovian response to BBM my senior year hookup)!!! I love laughing at shit like that when the song comes on when I’m running though!!

And now I think about more videos I want to do on long runs. I am pretty sure I’ll “write” a feature film during the marathon. :)

Kristen December 30, 2009 at 9:48 PM

“you know sometimes i wonder if me being fat was god’s way of keeping me from getting AIDS,” hysterical! i just want to say that i love, love, love your blog!
