Lemme Work It: 12/4/09

Gooood afternoon!

So today could have been a rest day, could have been an 8-mile run day, or could have been cross training. I have really been missing Spinning, so I decided to do that (even though I would have much rather skipped the blow out and enjoyed the rest day). When I woke up this morning I was quite surprised to see snow on the back porch!

I mean, I shouldn’t be surprised. Normally by this time of year in Michigan, we’ve had a snow day. I’ve been so lucky that it’s stayed so dry and hasn’t been super cold — I’ve been able to do all of my marathon training outside! But I can’t stay lucky forever. For breakfast I had Kashi waffles with natural PB, a smoothie with banana and hemp oil (which I’ve been having all week; hemp oil is packed with OMGs), and coffee in my HO mug!

YUM!

There was just a little dusting of snow but I wore my Uggs to the gym anyway…ugh, I had forgotten how damn comfortable those things are!

Spinning was full and warm and everyone had so much energy! I haven’t been to Spinning at Genesys in more than a month and the first thing I noticed when I climbed on the bike and checked my form in the mirror is how much thinner I looked! That was an exciting moment!! I haven’t weighed myself in probably two months, but it’s nice to see that all the positive things I’ve been doing for my body are starting to add up!

Class was great, as I expected. The instructor, Leslie, is just one of the most positive, upbeat people I’ve ever met. She had me cracking up all through the class. I’m so glad I went…leaving at 10 AM and knowing I had just had a kick ass workout was such a good feeling. Totally worth blow-drying my hair later!

When I got home, since I was already wet, I decided to give my pups a bath and put on their holiday collars. They need to look presentable for the party! I spent a little time assembling a Christmas bow for my hair (yep), and then I put vegetarian chili in the crock pot (recipe to come) and realized I was so hungry! I haven’t had oats in about two weeks (crazy, right?!) so I decided to make some. Yesterday at Trader Joe’s I got a lot of goodies (and forgot the damn almond butter, probably because I was more interested in the wine!) so it was a TJ’s kinda lunch: multigrain oats with dates, banana, butterscotch, and PB, and honey-flavored Greek yogurt.

And coffee, to keep me feeling warm and toasty! (PS do you like my new dollar-store place mat and bowl?!)

I looove Fridays, and I’m so excited about this afternoon. I am throwing the Uggs back on and going to the store to get the rest of the supplies for the cookie party! Picking up vodka, possibly hitting Target. (AHHHH TARGET FML. Taking in a $20 and leaving my wallet in the car.) Then I’m coming home and working on the butternut squash ravioli and the party favors. My mom has to make the cake for my cousin’s first birthday party tomorrow, so I think there’s pretty much going to be an orgy of good cheer and good music in the Shed Kitchen today.

Have a great afternoon!
