I’ve already talked about my major eyelash obsession, so it should come as no surprise that I was super pumped when I heard Latisse got FDA approval. I did my research, ignored the eye-rolling of my mother and the “It will change the color of your eyes!” warning from my grandmother, and went for it!
I went to a “medical spa” in Grand Blanc, which basically does a lot of Botox and laser hair removal. We had a quick chat about how to use it, and I said, “Sign me up!” They ordered my kit, and a week or so later, I had it!

The kit comes with this teeny-tiny bottle of Latisse and a 60-day supply of brushes. The brushes are individually packaged, to remain sterile, and you use a new brush for each eye, each night.
The bottle seems small, but it really does last, because you just need one drop. The first week or so the only thing I noticed was my eyes were a little itchy when I woke up, especially because at first I was applying a bit too much. After that, though, it was fine.
They said results start to show in about four weeks, with full lashtasticness achieved around week twelve. Around week four, I started to notice a difference, but I didn’t want to get carried away and see something there that wasn’t. But in week six, I couldn’t deny it anymore, and my friends started to notice. My eyelashes were just so lush! Long, dark, thick. It was really amazing. Added some good mascara to the mix and I was in business. By week ten, they looked as good as they did when I had extensions. When I was in NYC, Aaron asked me, from across the room, if I was wearing fake eyelashes. You know it’s good when the gays notice the difference!
My main objective when it comes to beauty is to have perfect skin and eyes like Bambi, and this stuff pretty much took care of the latter! It’s funny because I quite honestly felt prettier and more confident when my lashes got so fabulous. People can’t quite put their finger on what about you has changed, but you just suddenly have these eyes that bat and blink like a movie star…you can’t help but feel glamorous and gorgeous. It definitely put some spring in my step!
The only downside is the cost. It’s $120 for the tiny bottle. I will say, though, that my bottle lasted about 10 weeks, which is a lot longer than the four they say it will last for. I need to get more though; in the two weeks since I’ve been out, my eyelashes just haven’t been as banging. They are still really really long, but not as dark.
If you have a big event coming up (especially a vacation, wedding, or honeymoon), Latisse is definitely the way to go. Fake eyelashes look a little fake, and you usually only wear them for the event. But this is several weeks of fabulash, from the second you wake up until you go to bed.
So you can believe Brooke Shields — it really does work. I’ve tried the over-the-counter products that cost about the same and they don’t work. If you’re lash obsessed, you will love Latisse!
