OK I have not written a letter to the editor since I was a bitchy journalism student at MSU, but for some reason, I just got seriously pissed about the pink shirts at the Detroit Marathon. WHY WHY WHY? Not cool, Detroit. Not cool. They probably won’t publish my letter, but I just have to state my piece.

I was pretty excited about running in my first half-marathon in Detroit and having the cool new shirt to show for it. Excitement turned to disappointment when I got to the Expo and realized the women’s shirts were…pink. Really, Freep? Pink?? If you wanted to do two colors, why not red and blue or blue and grey? Sorry but if I’m running 13 + miles, I deserve to do it dressed like an athlete, not just a vagina in Nikes.

So true! I ran the Half-Marathon as well, and I was *so* disappointed in the shirts. Previous years shirts were so fun (I love the logo), and the shirt is just…not. Sad times.
