Lemme Work It: 10/22/09

Gooood afternoon!

Today is such my idea of perfect fall weather, I can barely handle it! It’s cold, wet, gray — but fresh and clear. That’s exactly how I like it!

I’m having a pretty great day today! It’s a running day, so I had my standard oatmeal breakfast and a healthy lunch. All I’ve wanted is sweet stuff lately: oatmeal, yogurt, smoothies, etc. I’ve barely had any vegetables this week! I made myself do savory today. I had a turkey sandwich with homemade pumpkin butter, carrots, an apple, and Dr. McDougall’s split pea soup!

It was nice and warm and salty, so I finally kicked my sweets habit…for one meal anyway.

During lunch, I looked outside and it was pouring rain. I did not want to run 6 miles inside! Post-lunch I did a little running around and luckily, by the time I got to the trails, the rain was gone. Thank goodness. It was actually perfect running weather.

I run these trails almost every day, but today was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen them. Tons of leaves had fallen from the trees, but there were enough leaves still on the trees that it was like simply being in a tunnel of leaves. The colors were crazy — red, gold, bright yellow, orange — it just made me feel so happy and alive as I ran through them!

I wish all runs could have such gorgeous scenery! Sometimes I don’t want October to end.

The run was great, and it’s my last one for the week! Tomorrow I am taking one of my best friends to her first Spinning class, which will be fun. Now it’s time for a snack, a warm shower, and some dry clothes before I make dinner.

Have a great night!

Your turkey sandwich looks Uh-Maze-ing. They don’t sell sliced turkey in Japan…weird, huh? But I would almost die for some right now!

I just wanted to let you know that I made the recipe you posted for the apple, sausage, and sweet potato casserole. It was fantastic! My husband loved it, too! After a few bites, he said “you’re becoming so much more domestic” :)

Is the soup from a dry mix? It looks really, really good.
