Hump Day Treat: Pick Your Poison Punch

by Rachel on 10/14/2009

All right, I’m obviously in a full-out Halloween frenzy here, and with that in mind, I decided to share one of my favorite recipes…my Halloween punch! I made this for my Halloween party last year and it was a huge hit. I like to believe it’s because of my superior hostessing skills, but it probably has more to do with the fact you simply cannot taste the alcohol in it. It actually comes from a Martha Stewart recipe; who knew she was such a lush!?

If you’re having a party or just want something to sip on with your roommates, definitely whip this up!

Ingredients

A fifth of Southern comfort

One 2L bottle of diet lemon-lime soda

Two 6 ounce cans of frozen orange juice concentrate

One 6 ounce can of frozen lemonade concentrate

Lemons and oranges, sliced

Method

Put the lemons and oranges in the freezer at least three hours before you plan to serve the punch.

In a bowl, combine all the other ingredients.

Just before serving, add the frozen fruit.

Prepare to get filthy.

That’s it! So easy, so fantastic. It’s a really delicious, sweet, sticky orange treat! (And — bonus! — the frozen fruits and frozen juices keep it cold without ice.) I can’t wait to make it again for my Halloween party this year.

Fun fact: I also made this for a non-Halloween party last December. It was a costume party, but apparently, everyone has different definitions of “costume.” I was dressed in a stewardess costume I had overnighted from SlutsStrippersandHookers.com, and everyone else was dressed as…businessmen at a regular party, apparently!

It was my “Legally Blonde” moment! (And I wish I could say it was the first, but it’s so not.) So, of course, I did the only thing one really can do when her are cheeks turning red because her other cheeks are getting cold…when I mixed the punch, I used two liters of SoCo, plus mad amounts of beer and tequila. I started cheers-ing to “Confidence Juice” and chugging it down.  Surprisingly, even then, you still can’t taste the alcohol. It’s like magic!

Wow, that sounds delicious. It reminds me of apricot brandy slush…I wonder if adding brandy would make it too sweet? :P
