So Fresh and So Clean Clean

Good morning friends!

So, working out is, of course, an amazing thing for your health. But sometimes it can have some not-so-pleasant health consequences. All those sweaty clothes can cause real problems for the ladies–namely in the form of bacterial or yeast infections.

While it’s gross to talk about, it’s the reality, and it’s important to be smart to avoid this problem. Here are some ways to keep it clean.

  • Choose cotton undergarments for working out. (If not cotton, then at least something that breaaaathes.) If you can, avoid working out in thongs—as my doctor puts it, it’s a “Bacteria Highway” from your backside to your front side. (Wow–this just keeps getting grosser and grosser!)
  • Work out in loose fitting clothes as much as possible. Yes, spandex makes your ass look great, but if you’re prone to infections or getting over one, switch to mesh shorts.
  • Change out of your gym clothes as soon as your workout is over. This is critical. Even if you can’t take a shower right away, put on clean, dry underwear and pants.
  • Don’t wash with harsh chemicals and don’t use a loofah. Gentle soap and water is all you need. A loofah can harbor bacteria and the rough surface can cause damage to your delicate skin. And never, ever douche. Seriously. I shouldn’t have to say this. You’re fine as you are—you don’t need to smell like a Summer’s Eve.

Just following these basic tips can keep your va-jay-jay in as good of shape as your glutes!

Another good tip is to buy some baby wipes (you can get like 50 for $1) and wipe down right after your workout, especially if you can’t shower right away. I use them all over (legs, butt, chest, etc.) to keep body acne away!
