Lemme Work It: 7/31/09

Hello, hello!

Well, I’m back to my routine after a lovely day off. I went to Royal Oak on Thursday night and drank wine on Kaitlin’s boyfriend’s huge porch. I can’t remember a thing we talked about but I can remember we laughed pretty much the whole time. I was so thrilled when I woke up on Thursday without a hangover. Still, I had to have my favorite after-partybreakfast, so I Kaitlin and I went to Bruegger’s Bagels. I had a salt bagel with light herb garlic cream cheese and a green apple. No Reese’s Pieces, so I think I’m doing pretty well. Then we hit the store for some new magazines to have a lazy morning. Kaitlin’s new 12-week-old puppy Talley–who weighs all of two pounds–needs constant attention, so we hung out with her.

It was a gorgeous day, and we decided to dine al fresco and take the dog. We went to Mr. B’s for lunch in downtown Royal Oak. I ordered their French onion soup which is amazing, and ate it with part of a chicken caesar salad. We also had a few beers…I haven’t done any day drinking since I graduated from college and like I said, lately I’ve just been in the mood to play! After lunch we walked through town and did a little shopping. Then we headed home and got back into the wine. It was the laziest, most wonderful day. Kaitlin is one person who truly understands what it means to be positive and happy, to feel lucky, grateful, and blessed. When I say we sat there talking about how much we love our lives, I mean it. But we both love “The Secret,” and giving thanks and recognizing how much you have is one of the main principles. I stayed with her until dinner time, when I finally headed home! I made dinner with my mom and we kept it light, simple, and healthy: whole grain pilaf, grilled chicken, and green beans. Delicious!

This morning I was up and at it bright and early for Spinning! I feel like I haven’t been in days, even though I just hit the bike on Wednesday. The class absolutely flew by and I was in such a good mood when I left!! I got an email from Leah about things we are planning for our blogs and I couldn’t be more excited. I also made a really good decision in terms of working out that I’ll write about on Monday. And I came home and found a Kanye West concert On Demand. What a great morning!!

Lately I’ve been more in the mood for “everything but the kitchen sink” style smorgasboards (healthy ones!!). Today I sliced a yellow pepper, green pepper, and white onion, and tossed it on the stove with a small amount of leftover pilaf, chickpeas, and kidney beans. It was really quite random.

It came out a little bland so I poured in a bunch of salsa. That worked! I also had a leftover piece of grilled chicken with TJ’s BBQ sauce and some watermelon and cantaloupe.

This afternoon I have to work on two freelance writing assignments and that’s really all that’s on the agenda! I have a really busy week next week, so I’ll probably just take it easy tonight.

Have a good afternoon!
