Another “healthy” trend I find infuriating is 100 Calorie packs. These were a huge trend in snacking in the past couple years, and they make me kind of crazy. Why would that be? Isn’t portion control part of a healthy diet?
Of course it is. 100 Calorie packs are not exactly foolproof portion control.
After all….haven’t you ever eaten…two packs?
And does everyone just fail to recognize that you’re paying a company more…to feed you…less?
There’s also the fact that “100 Calorie versions” of some foods…are not the same. A 100 Calorie pack of Oreos should carry two regular Oreos…not hexagon-shaped chocolate graham crackers, which is what you get.
And then there’s the incredibly annoying, sexist marketing.
It is being reported that sales of 100 calorie packs are dropping. Thank goodness!
If portion control is your concern, create your own 100 Calorie packs in three easy steps: measure out a serving, put it in a Ziploc baggie. OMG it’s only two steps!

I got roped into 100 calorie packs during my WW days. Portion control is great, but when you see the ingredients on the package, scares the shit outta me!
